About Kathleen Murray

This is my affirmation for 2014. Change your thoughts

Change your thoughts and you Change your world.

If I can convey one important message to my clients, it is truly that when you realize that your thoughts and consequently your energy that you are sending out are in your control, then you change your life!

All in all, I’ve led an incredibly blessed life with an amazing childhood, wonderful education, college and a successful career as a political organizer. This led to my own consulting business in Chicago with an office just off the magnificent mile. I helped raised more than $10 million dollars for political candidates and amazing nonprofits including a sitting US President and Chicago’s own Mayor Daley.

Then I met the love of my life and agreed to move to a small town in northern Minnesota only and hour or so from the Canadian border. My first winter there set me on a path where for close to ten years, I struggled with anxiety and panic attacks.

When I had my first panic attack I was really thrown for a loop! I didn’t know what was going on and the bigger question for me was WHY was this happening to me?

The control freak in me was freaking out!

And guess where I was when my first panic attack hit – in Tanzania on an African safari with my husband! Thousands of miles from home, at the beginning of the trip of a lifetime and all I wanted to do was crawl up in a ball and be magically whisked home to my bed. Well, I got through it, finished the trip and arrived back home. Then I had another one… and another one… until I became consumed with trying to anticipate when the next one might come and how I could stop them.  My main focus became stopping a potential panic attack – ALL THE TIME.

I tried every trick to stop them, read many books on anxiety and panic, listened to relaxation tapes, and on and on basically becoming an expert on anxiety and panic. But they still kept coming…..

So what finally changed for me?  Well, it took reaching out beyond the shame of having this mental health problem (you don’t talk about these kinds of things, especially someone who appears to “have it all”) and getting the help I needed. And what did I need? Honestly, it was about facing my fears. Because not facing them was keeping me from living a better life. And guess what I found out? Those fears once faced were no where near as scary as I had made them out to be. But I had made them so big by hiding from them for SO long!

So my message to you reading this is……

When you honestly and truly face your fears — the fears become small you become big and powerful…..and free!

So what did I want to do with this new found freedom and passion for what I learned? I wanted to use it to help others realize what it took me too darn long to learn- I was the one responsible for making myself so miserable AND I was the one who could change it – anytime I was ready!

My motto is Change is Good If you’re not living life the way you want, then change it! If you’re not sure how and you’re a little scared, that’s OK. I’m here to help you, support you and cheer you on as you figure it out.

It really can be a  fun ride and I’d love to be on it with you so if you’d like to learn more about the power of coaching to transform lives, then fill out the form below and we’ll explore what you want out of your ONE LIFE.
